We basically have two types of Cedar trees on our property.
White Cedar - which is a hardy tree and can reach an age of over 200 years
and
Eastern Red Cedar - our favorite! It's a very hardy tree that is actually a Juniper.
It has a beautiful deep red core when freshly cut or split and an intoxicating smell.
Remember the cedar chests & closets from years ago that kept moths from eating your wool?
"Up on the Knoll" these trees make an excellent windbreak & shelter you from the high winds that
are known to creep out of nowhere near the shores of Lower Beverley!
The main property can feel 5 degrees warmer on those cool days where fishing & swimming may not be ideal.
They grow fast and can be found in a wide range of climate zones
Knoll is just another term for a small, round natural hill or mound.
...and now you know!
Cedar Knoll Camps has been around since 1972, and in 1979 Nancy's parents
bought the campground as it was just supposed to be a gig for a summer job!
Well, fast-forward some years later, and Nancy now runs the place (with a little help from her husband, Eric)
They both became the "Official" owners in 2018. Many changes have taken place since then,
and there are always improvements to be made to better serve our campers.
Cedar Knoll Camps has entertained guests from age 1-to-100
and generations of campers keep coming back.
***Eric & Nancy were wed on the campground in '03 and
the bride arrived by pontoon boat, naturally!***
